Yán Koryáni Dollies

Here are some of the Yán Koryáni dollies that were prepared to facilitate the production of all the figure variants. 

There are six basic pose types, based on armour type, weapon and attack mode. They are: Medium Infantry (MI) 2-handed weapon (ie. pike or halberd), Heavy Infantry (HI) 2-handed weapon, HI 1-handed thrusting (ie. spear, held under-arm). MI 1-handed thrusting, MI 1-handed cutting (ie. over-arm cutting or thrusting with spear or hand weapon), and MI 2-handed sword (inc mace or flail).

There are two male poses, differentiated primarily by the position of the legs, and one female pose (on the right) for each category. 

The so-called "Medium" armour is a chlen-hide cuirass, while scale is used to denote the "Heavy" armour. The way the Professor described the armours it is quite possible to have lighter or heavier versions of either type. He told me that the Yán Koryáni formations should be irregular; armour might be new or handed down by generations of warriors. It was to try to achieve this look - in an affordable manner - that we chose to use the helmet variants that we have. So, one could mix-and-match scale and cuirass armoured infantry within the same unit if one wanted even more variety. It might also be reflected in the way the unit is painted.

You will note that the above figures are lacking heads. Alan added the heads afterwards, using the three variants I think I mentioned in my last post. Looking at these dollies today I wondered what other purposes they could be put to. 

My goal for 2018 is to get all our Yán Koryáni back into production by the end of the year. And also those that have never been moulded or cast before. Basically all those YK listings on the Tekumel Club blog, currently in red under the "Palace of Ever-Glorious War" page,  would be shown in black and available for purchase. 

This will mean that there is a severe imbalance against the Tsolyáni. The Legion of the Lord of the Red Devastation (aka the Red D's) is still only partially ready for production. What else could be added - and in an affordable way? Can any of these dollies be utilized by the Tsolyáni? What do you guys think?

Lord Freshsháyu hiTurukén

Lord Freshsháyu hiTurukén, is the human Kérdu (or general) of the Shén mercenary "Legion of the City of Chrí" in Tsolyáni service. A little eccentric, his armour is fashioned to make him resemble a Shén. As such, even though  Tsolyánu's national colour is blue, I assume his armour would be mostly black - or at least the  "Shén" bits anyway. His legion uses a sort of red-orange for trim so I guess he would have that also, and probably a touch of blue and, of course, some gold or silver to show his status.

Shield

The city of Mákhis in Yán Kór is famous for its long-bowmen and the distinctive headdress they wear. The Clan of Flying Dragon-Fish, which rules Mákhis, contributes a gurék to Baron Áld's forces. The gurék consists of 5000 medium infantry armed with long barbed spears, targe shields and axes or swords; and 7000 of the aforementioned longbowmen.

These figures are not yet available but are coming soon, very soon. All are sculpted by Allan Marsh. While firing, the long-bowmen customarily plant their shields in the earth in front of them, which is one of the reasons the shield has a spike at its base. The medium infantry are still being worked on.

I found a pic Allan sent me of the completed figures (plus the Ahoggyá bits.) 

The cities of  Dháru and Vánu are on the coast in north-eastern Yán Kór. The halberdiers usually fight paired with a man with sword and shield. The latter protects the pair from missile fire with his shield. Such combinations are common to Tékumeli warfare. One formation popular with the Yán Koryáni is known as the "Meadows of Death". When adopted, lighter missile-armed troops are interspersed with heavier, melee troops.

These are all greens that Allan did for us some time ago. The topmost figures are blanks; they have long since been put together. There are four with halberds, four with swords, four archers and four with crossbows; two males and two females of each. All that is missing are command figures. I had been holding off waiting for the command to get done, but now I am thinking to go ahead and get the basic troopers molded anyhow. 

There was also a delay because the metal forming the masters was of the same type as has been giving us so much grief with the Ahoggyá and the Shén. Now that we seem to have got that monkey off our back the road is open for a huge backlog of stuff to be released!

The Clan of the Sliver Worm skirmisher girls are meant to go along with Silver Worm troops which are basic Yán Kóryani. Unfortunately the basic troops are stalled, being part in Australia and part over here. I was waiting to bring these out but again have had another change of heart and decided to go for it. 

The Mákhis longbowmen were also intended to be accompanied by regular Yán Kór troops. Same story as above.  

So a little later this summer these will be going off to get mastered and cast. Not sure when they will be available. The intent is to provide them as singles, or as Warbands and Hordes per our usual practice.

I have been working out pricing for these and other human troops and I think it will be as follows:

Character figures - ie. Lady Mríssa - $6.00;

Singles - troopers, command - $5.00;

Warband, consisting of 10 troopers plus 3 or 4 command - $50.00;

Horde, consisting of 10 troopers - $40.00.

Tekumel Club members would, of course, get their usual discounts (40-50% off.)

This pricing will apply to the forthcoming Lady Mríssa figures. Non-humans or figures that are over-sized or have lots of extra parts might be priced differently but for basic human types this will be our goal for pricing.
