Battle!

The Shén and Ahoggyá share a certain amount of "animosity"...

But humans taste great as well! ;-)

Happy Seppuku!

Happy Seppuku is a new company (at least new to me!) that sells basing texture and detailing kits. Their molds allow you to make impressions of various textures in greenstuff and other similar putties which are used to finish off your bases. Those at the top are two of my favourites. In the past I've defaulted to outdoors sort of textures, but with priestly figures and the like I'm thinking that interior textures might be more appropriate. I especially like the Old World flagstone texture at the top, only I wouldn't paint it a solid colour. I remember seeing a tutorial on the Manorhouse website where he showed how he used a mix of colours to make a much more interesting look.

For our up-coming Swamp Folk I think a ships decking would be perfect for their bases. Something like that shown below...

Upcoming Shén Shield Variants...

There are over a dozen Shén mercenary units serving in the armies of the Five Empires. While we cannot afford to do differing armour for each unit, we are trying to offer some variation in the shields. Shown above are some variants that Federico has done which will be moulded and made available before the summer is out.

B is for Bethorm: the Plane of Tekumel

Bethorm is a new Tekumel rpg designed by Jeff Dee and currently on Kickstarter. Even if you don't do rpg's this promises to be a useful resource as, at the very least, many of Tekumel's unique creatures will be illustrated for the first time. I believe there will also be useful scenarios and the stretch goals will example little known areas within the Empire, such as the Kurt Hills. That alone, is worth contributing to, IMO!

One step forward, two steps back...

...or so it seems sometimes!

Last weekend was Hot Lead, a fine little Canadian convention in Stratford, Ontario. Sold a chunk of the lead pile - enough to pay my casting order from RAFM, which I picked up from them while I was there.

That was all good, but on Thursday evening my computer died a horrible death. And then the next morning we left for Stratford, so there was little I could do at the time.

I have since bought a cheap laptop ($325+/-) which turns out to be better than my old PC which cost about $1200 IIRC. Of course, the expenditure was not budgeted for.

And today the muffler on the car gave out. It hasn't fallen off, it just seems to have come detached at the engine. As Kingston seems to be the pot hole capital of Canada this is perhaps not surprising. This will be the third car repair in the last five or six weeks. Previously the coolant system started leaking and before that one of the front tires had it's back broken - if that is the right way to describe it. I blame the pot holes!

*sigh*
